The yearly ESU conference and PhD summer school is organized by the European University Network on Entrepreneurship. In 2012, ESU is held at the University of Southern Denmark in Kolding, Denmark, August 19-25. Kolding is a medieval town with an old Royal castle named Koldinghus in its centre. Kolding and the surrounding Triangular area has about 230.000 inhabitants. Kolding is a busy commercial and industrial town, with a charming city centre and a reputation for design, innovation and entrepreneurship. The University of Southern Denmark with a total of 23.000 students has activities in Kolding and five other towns in the region. The Kolding campus is known as a leading environment for entrepreneurship studies and research, hosting the IDEA Entrepreneurship Centre and the Centre for Small Business and
Entrepreneurship Studies.
ESUs primary target group is PhD students and other young scholars in the entrepreneurship research field. ESU events are reputed for creating good opportunities for young scholars to meet with and learn from leading European entrepreneurship professors in a collaborative atmosphere. About 70-90 scholars are expected to participate in ESU 2012. PhD’s who complete all assignments of the doctoral programme get a 6 ECTS certificate. Key note lectures will be held by Roy Thurik (Amsterdam), Alain Fayolle (Lyon), Alistair Anderson (Aberdeen), Paula Kyrö (Helsinki), Helle Neergaard (Aarhus) and Thomas Schott (Kolding). A best paper conference award is donated by Aalto University. The social program includes visits to companies, innovation centres and learning parks in the area. The participant fee is 320 Euro.
