The first European Summer University was organised by Allain Fayole in Valence (the South of France). This research conference addressed key issues in entrepreneurship, highlighthing some European specificities.
Around 60 scholars attended the conference and shared ideas. Many results regarding entrepreneurship was reached. This conference was the beginning of the ESU. The idea of this special issue started during this conference, from which we could draw numerous articles.
